MST3k Episode 201 Rocketship X-M

Thanks to Satellite News for refreshing my memory where needed..

Turn down your lights where applicable...

A new season, new set, new sidekick for Dr. Forrester and a new voice for Tom Servo. Unfortunately this is only a so so episode to me, the movie is just soooo dull, though to be fair its better than most of the season 1 episodes. And boy is this movie sexist, man its amazing how every guy on the Rocket is a total chauvanist pig to the female scientist.

The host segments are pretty good though, I love Franks 'training' and the 'funny or not funny floating' sketch is great(a woodchuck is EXTREMELY funny floating, Crow: Uh, you keep meat in this? Servo: Your mouth? ). Segment 2, where the gang discuss the reporters of Rocketship X-M is funny but stretches out a bit long.
Kevin doesn't seem comfortable with his Servo voice yet, he almost sounds like he's trying to copy Servos season 1 voice at times...

The riff "By this time my lungs were..." never gets old.
~Brian~

I thought the introduction of new voices and characters was really well done in the beginning... and the BGC19 is a classic invention exchange of course.

NIIIICE BRAAAAINS!!!!

The riffing is just as good as ever, though I can agree that Kevin hasn't quite nailed down Servo's voice in this one. There definitely are moments where it sounds like he is wanting to emulate the season 1 voice, but it's not distracting.
