I also saw the film last night. I thought it was fantastic. It basically takes Powell's The Red Shoes and mixes it with elements of Cronenberg and Polanski (with just a pinch of Carrie added for good measure), and it does it rather seamlessly. The viewing experience reminded me a bit of Shutter Island, in that it unapolagetically hits a lot of familiar genre tropes and everything is foreshadowed kinda early on, but the dialogue, performances and direction really elevate it to the level of just being a straight up great film. Just a really trippy, nutty horror flick about a girl losing it. I think the Wrestler is still my favorite Aronofsky, but this is definitely in my top 3 of the year.

Oh, and Natalie Portman better get that Oscar.

I'll probably see this when it comes to video. It looks kind of intriguing, but I'm not going out of my way to see it.

So I saw this last night and my god it was ****ing brilliant. Talk about a great way to start the movies in 2011 off. This is the best mind **** horror movie I have seen since Silent Hill, as this is how you do suspense. Not to mention the designs were gorgeous, especially Natalie's make-up when she was the performing the role of the black swan. The music was very edgy and well placed, the cinematography rocked. There was simply not a dull moment in the movie.
