An amazing producer/director who knows how to make GOOD movies with almost NO budget or time. Out of the 200+ movies he's produced AND directed, yes, there have been a fair share of stinkers, but he's also made MORE GOOD movies than most people. And he's from Detroit, so he's a hometown hero for me.

As director:

-House of Usher (1960) ·
The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) ·
The Premature Burial (1962) ·
Tales of Terror (1962) ·
The Raven (1963) ·
The Haunted Palace (1963) ·
The Masque of the Red Death (1964) ·
The Tomb of Ligeia (1964)
-Bucket of Blood
-Tower of London
-The Intruder
-Little Shop of Horrors (shot in 2 days!)
-X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes
-The Trip
-The Day The World Ended
-The Wasp Woman

As producer:

-Targets
-Piranha
-Galaxy of Terror
-Humanoids From The Deep
-Death Race 2000
-Rock N Roll High School
-Boxcar Birtha
-Dementia 13
-Galaxy of Terror
-Chopping Mall
-Sharktopus
-Battle Beyond The Stars
-Star Crash

Launched the careers of:

Francis Ford Coppola
Dennis Hopper
Peter Fonda
Jack Nicholson
Martin Scorsese
Ron Howard
Joe Dante
Jonathan Demme
James Cameron
John Sayles
Peter Bogdanovich
Gale Anne Hurd
Robert Towne
Jack Hill

And that's just off the top of my head. And even though its horrible, I'd rather watch his Fantastic Four movie than the recent one.

Do I really need to go on about how awesome this guy is? One my my true heroes. The speech he made for his WELL DESERVED AND LONG OVERDUE Lifetime Achievement Oscar was awesome and inspirational as well.
