Words can't express how excited I am about this famous beloved story finally becoming a film! It was originally a classic graphic novel by Argentinian comic writer Héctor Germán Oesterheld and has been adapted and sequelized in comic form many times over. The story involves aliens invading earth using various techniques including a poisonous snow, gigantic monsters and giant insects as well as robots. Several attempts at a film version have been made over the years but the potential budget of such a huge story always got in the way until now. A new film version was announced in 2008 with director Lucrecia Martel attached although now her involvement is uncertain. However the studio still seems to be going forward with the production and determined to finally make what will be the biggest budgeted film in the history of South America. Finally a brief sample of early test fx footage has been released. Check out our latest article for the full run down including lots of details, art from the comic, that rough fx test footage from the new film, an awesome fan made trailer, and in it you can actually look at and read the original comic!!:
