Am I the only person alive who has actually seen this film in the past twenty years? This was the last of the Rankin-Bass/Tsuburaya Productions trio of films which were all directed by Tom Kotani (The Last Dinosaur and The Bermuda Depths). Even though the movie was boring and unspectacular, the well designed ape costume made up for it.

The evil poacher tries trading this old black and white tv set playing Frosty the Snowman for the ape. When the old African native refuses, the poacher shoots him Dr. Who style.

Yikes...that man could eat without even opening his mouth...

And the pic of him with the messed up hair, holding the phone...am I the only one who sees a Toho Frankenstein resemblance? :D

Seriously though...I wouldn't mind seeing the movie.
