The Japanese version comes out on R2 DVD on November 21st, along with Terror Beneath the Sea and Green Slime.

The version of THE GREEN SLIME is shorter than the US version, by twenty minutes -- this is how it was released in Japanese theaters, on a bill with other short subjects -- they cut out all the love-triangle stuff and got right to the action. It's dubbed in Japanese, though, so it would just be a curiousity for those who are huge fans of THE GREEN SLIME. TERROR BENEATH THE SEA (Kaitei Daisenso) on the other-hand, is the full-length version with the mighty Sonny Chiba!

There have been several filmed versions of the story of the legendary ninja, Jiraiya, and his battle with the evil Orochi Maru, before THE MAGIC SERPENT was made. It would be cool to see a new version produced in Japan... That could be cool, especially with the resurgence of interest in Jidaigeki and Chambara films.
