POWER PLANT No. 33: Kaiju vs. Mecha Anime Short

The same site that gave us the Gridman animated short has brought us another kaiju outing, this time animated by Studio Rikka and Trigger.

I like the animation and setting, but I'm less enamoured with the slowness of the combatants. Also, English subtitles would seem more crucial here than they were with the Gridman short.

You can turn on subtitles in the upper right corner ("EN")

That helps dramatically. Without them, I thought the girl at the end was getting the hots for that monster. I was kind of baffled.

I saw this a couple of days ago. Trigger did a fantastic job of world-building and conveying the scale of the monsters.

I think this confirms that we need Trigger to do a kaiju show.
