Here's a short blog post I wrote about the relationship between kaiju-eiga and the spaghetti-western, and their relationships with their Hollywood counterparts and the countries who adopted them.

Thought it may be worth a read :P

I gotta say I got a bit huffy at the part about the opening music to Trinity (awesome though it is) being superior to the old-fashioned opening theme to The Searchers. American folk music is awesome - and I'm not saying that that that particular theme is some kinda pinnacle of brilliance, but the sentiment that "old folk music = boring" upset me a we bit.

The folk ballads that run through How The West Was Won are awesome! I find the actual film kinda weak, but whenever the music revs up I get happy.
