Regarding Military SFX Scenes
Posted: Mon Nov 26, 2012 1:28 pmIs there a reason why Shochiku, Daiei, and Nikkatsu's JSDF scenes are just larger and have more variety of military hardware than Toho's?
I saw The X From Outer Space and some Showa Gamera films this weekend.
I have never ever seen once, EVER F-104 Starfighters used in a Toho kaiju film. Just F-86s back in the day. By the 60s, the F-86 was phased out in the Self Defense Forces.
And the sheer amount of tanks and ground forces used in the films I just mentioned are larger than what Toho produced during this time, save for War Of The Gargantuas.
Anyone know a reason for this? Or has anyone noticed this at all?
