Back to the movie. It would appear that there is a lot of bias towards the movie and people won't compromise from their anime being changed with.

Despite some of the negative reviews, this new trailer makes me want to see the movie - it looks incredible.

The majority of the negative reviews I have read are from fans of the manga/anime. I sense a bias. They did take a dump all over the source material.

I do notice some CG in it that is slightly stiff or off color but the rest of it looks pretty good.

At least on the visual side of this it is refreshing to not a CG dominated world.

I'm just getting into this Attack on Titan, but I love it so far, and I'm looking forward to the live action movie. When I watch the trailer for it though, it really puts me in mind of what a modern day War of the Gargantuas could be like with this guy directing it. I guess it's the human eating scenes that makes me think of it. Anyone else feel this way?

Oh, I caught the part where his mom got chomped up...and then we suffered through some extraordinarily cliché "I never told her how I felt" and "Must get revenge" yawn-inducing moments. I've watched the entire first season, and I feel completely comfortable saying the show has terrible pacing. I can't stand how often some sort of action sequence will be taking place and as a punch is being thrown, we get 15 minutes of inner monologue until the punch is FINALLY thrown...and then another 10 minutes until the next moment of action.

I'm not super well-versed in anime, so for me, it's pretty much all unique and original right now, and that's not enough to make me like something.

Didn't I fairly CLEARLY state that TO ME everything I watch is "unique" because I don't watch much anime? To ME. Me as sn individual. A lone person. Not you. Not in the absolute sensr of what is and what has been done before. Just to me and my experience. I wouldn't know Cowboy Bebop from Lupin or Aeon Flux from Inuyasha. I checked out Attack on Titan because it gets good reviews from people I trust and kaiju fans. Its uniqueness and/or originality hold no sway for me as I don't have any basis for comparison.

This movie got wrecked at the box office this past weekend. It went from 1st at the box office down to 5th. LOL. So far it has only accumulated $11.3 million.

Probably doesn't help that Jurrasic World opened up in Japan this past weekend.

This movie(s) I think before Higuchi got involved were going to cost around $34+ million to make. So... given the sharp drop off I would say the second movie is in deep crap.

Also finding more clips lurking around youtube. This one looks pretty good except the odd edits (maybe edited for time for this specific show). Like Eren is out with the crowd in one scene then behind some sort of bars in another. The laughter of the smiling Titan sounded like the wicked witch of the west when it was going "ha-ha-ha-ha." The weird yell she did at the end was great but that laughter was goofball city. If that is in the movie that is some hella awful sound editing considering her mouth isn't even moving. LOL

So I managed to catch a subbed version of Attack on Titan....

I was pleasantly surprised. I've watched the anime, and while there are some changes, the movie is mostly fun and the Titans are terrifying. The movie plays out more like a giant zombie horror film - tons of blood and guts and lots of people getting eaten. In particular, the Colossal was amazingly done and his roar (if you can call it that) is something else...really great stuff.

The special effects are 80% good with a few spots that were kinda off, but overall I really love Higuchi's work. If anything, this has me more excited for the new Godzilla film. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.
