Do you really think that Lucas "borrowed" the plot points, or are these just very common themes in mythology and folklore? (father vs son, the elderly master, etc).

I will tell you though, when I used to frequent the message boards at Starwars.com, every time I mentioned either the influneces of THE MAGIC SERPENT or Jack Kirby's Darksied on Lucas, the post was deleted faster than you could say "beware the Dark Side".

Yeah, there were two statements -- I would like to verify the Hakaider statement. I wonder if Lucas saw KIKAIDA on San Francisco or Los Angeles television? Or if he saw it at all? Perhaps he heard about it in Time magazine...
