This is a really fun flick, and probably one of the better dinosaur films out there (pre-JURASSIC PARK). It's got a great soundtrack, decent performances from no name actors (unknown at least to the genre), and a lot of atmosphere. The SPX used to bring the prehistoric creatures to life are definitely less than stellar, but for whatever reason, I find them easy to ignore.

I'm not sure what the general consensus on this film is around here, and was just wondering what other fans thought of it overall. I personally feel it's not quite as good as THE LAST DINOSAUR (which was released the same year), but easily trumps THE CRATER LAKE MONSTER (Dave Allen's stop motion effects and some of the music really being it's only redeeming quality). LEGENDS OF DINOSAURS definitely stands on it's own as being pretty unique amongst dinosaur films, regardless of being plagued by bad SPX. Thoughts?

this was one of my favorite movies growing up

I really dig the atmosphere of the movie along with the soundtrack really give off a cool vibe, that i think still holds up to this day. The last 20 mins are really what makes this one great. I love how the credits start with the poster screen and theme that comes out of nowhere.

I love this film too...I just got it last Christmas after having not seen it in probably 10 years and was shocked to find that somehow in my child's mind I had never realized the film was a Japanese movie...same thing happened with The Last Dinosaur although that film is a little easier to understand seeing as how there's only one major Japanese role in the entire film

Wow, I could not disagree with you guys more here. :? This movie is freaking terrible, as far as I'm concerned. It may be enjoyable in a Plan 9 sort of way, but there's honestly nothing "good" I can say about it. It's pretty much an hour and a half of "Huh?" moments and some good laughs, especially the last stretch with that ridiculous song blaring on the soundtrack and the main characters' dilemma, the conclusion to which is left up in the air. :P

Oh well. To each his own, I guess.

I watched this movie for the first time this year and thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. 70s Japanese cheese. That said though The Last Dinosaur completely blows it out of the water. I freaking loved The Last Dinosaur.

yes
