I own the old Transatlantic VHS copy of Yog and I noticed recently while transferring it to DVD that the initial appearance of Ganime is completely out of sync. The audio and video are separated by about 4 or 5 seconds which is very distracting.

Anyway, I assume this is a problem with every copy of the tape, but was it messed up like this when AIP released the film in 1971? Also, are copies of the film released by other distributors like this?

No, just that print that was circulated to make so many PD tapes. The television and theatrical prints of YOG did not have this glitch.
