Northern California-based Polygon Entertainment and Korea’s Soo Jack Films have wrapped up principal photography for Shin Jeong-won's forthcoming action adventure/thriller CHAW. The new movie tells the story of a small South Korean village being terrorized by Chaw, a massive, man-eating, mutant wild boar.

Working on the special effects is Kerner Optical, a former department of George Lucas' FX house Industrial Light and Magic. Kerner is also currently attached to the long-delayed IMAX film GODZILLA 3-D.

SciFi Japan has updated with a report on CHAW, including information and photos from Korean and American sources:

Ahh, yes "Chaw". We mentioned this film coming just recently on the "Undead BackBrain" as well as the sea monsters vs. oil rig workers flick; "Sector 7" that was originally revealed on 'TwitchFilm' and 'RoboJapan': http://roberthood.net/blog/index.php/20 ... an-giants/ It sounds pretty cool. Should fit right alongside the slew of killer hog films that have been popping out lately with "Hogzilla"[a.k.a. "Son Of Hogzilla"; Diane Jacquez: 2007],: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpaICN087Ic and: http://www.myspace.com/sonofhogzilla , and "LEGEND OF HOGZILLA"[Rick Trimm; 2008]: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1022876/ and: http://www.dreadcentral.com/story/the-legend-hogzilla and "PIG HUNT"[Jim Isaac; 2008]: http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=5012 and: http://www.pighuntmovie.com/ 8-)

You actually check out our site?? You just made my day!! You guys are my idols!! We try really hard to keep the fans up-to-date on the latest kaiju cinematic rumblings. Rob's a fantastic writer and always listens to my ideas and he really puts a lot of trust in me. I'm kind of the kaiju news hound for his site and 'RoboJapan' as well as several others. We actually had never heard much about 'Chaw' until more recently. Now 'Sector 7'; that one I've been following since it was first mentioned last year in an article in 'TwitchFilm' about "Haeundae": http://twitchfilm.net/site/view/this-be ... -hauendae/ It sounds pretty awesome like another "THE HOST" but with multiple creatures. 8-)

The trailer looks effective in conveying its message but will the film be as good?
