Hey, I don't mean to revive this ancient thread, but a poster known as Doctor Kiss over at the CHFB was able to get a greeat scan of the advertisment/poster from this film from the 14th April 1938 issue of Kinema Jumpo.

These are both amazing finds and I would not mind seeing either of them, wish there was a way to find them though. :?

I didn't know there was even a black and white King Kong movie in Japan. Nice find indeed.

Remember, this is the 1938 version, not the 1933 comedy, KING KONG: MADE IN JAPAN (Wasei Kingu Kongu). The person who originally posted this scan, received it through a Japanese friend who had taken it from a a library-bound, archival copy of Japan's premiere movie magazine, Kinema Jumpo. The magazine is still in operation to this day.

Definitely a very interesting tidbit. I have to wonder how much of these rumors are real and how much of it is an urban legend? Too bad we'll never know most if not all the evidence was destroyed during the firebombings on Japan during WWII. As for Edwards and Legendary's next Godzilla sequel, I say no to a King Kong appearance. I say fools to those that actually want to see King Kong and Godzilla fight again. Maybe in a spin-off parody direct to video movie but for a feature length film in theatres? Uh...no!
