That's just a PR suit, just like Toho does with their monsters when they announce a new film. Kawasaki has made a lot of comedies and parodies, as we all know, but we'll see what he has in store for this film. As long as there's lots of tokusatsu action, I'll be content.
BTW, ten years ago, there was an announcement of GUILALA VS. GAPPA, a co-production between Nikkatsu and Shochiki, which never materialized -- I'm happy Guilala is coming back... They just have to get Peggy Neal to return for a cameo!
Kawasaki's a die-hard tokusatsu fan, and one of his first films, when he was 19 or 20, was THE WOLFMAN VS. GODZILLA. Check out this cool black and white still taken during the production of this 8mm epic:
