If these movies weren't popular, no one would have bothered wasting time and money purchasing them, dubbing them, producing ad campaigns, and releasing them to theaters. These films were very successful at the US box office, in the "science fiction" market. RODAN was one of the highest grossing genre films in the US during 1956, according to Box Office Barometer and Far East Film News. Even later releases like GHIDRAH (1965) were hits, while the horror cycle was winding down. The double feature release of THE WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and MONSTER ZERO was a surprise box office hit in 1970, according to Variety.

^ There's this one cable channel called "Turner South" which I only ever had when I lived in Georgia (and since Turner founded the Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta, it leads me to think that it's an exclusive channel to the state). It played Godzilla 2000 quite frequently when I lived in Georgia from 2003 to 2005, and the film does still show up on TNT every once in a while.

^I live in the south, and Turner South sadly expired, I believe over a year ago (think its a sports channel now).

They were pretty cool, I saw The Green Slime for the first time on that channel, as well as another foreign Sci Fi flick, which I believe was called Wild Wild Planet.

Before the channel went away they seemed to show Batman, Dark City, and The Leone Westerns in heavy rotation, which was pretty awesome.

Yes it is sad that kids can not discover other wonderful things out there on thier own like we all did growing up, thanks to local and cable channels showing stuff like Monster movies on Saturday afternoons.
