Wow. Sorry to pee in the proverbial punchbowl. Anyhow, let's talk about the FILM here -- not the DVD, since it hasn't been released, and we're limited to one thread on the Media Blasters' DVDs.

Frankenstein Conquers The World is a top-notch Toho fantasy. Sure, it probably does piss off alot of Frankenstein fans (no more so than GINO does, us), but I think it was a good story, told really well. One of the first of Toho's non-Godzilla fantasy films that I had seen. The very beginning prologue, which ends with the Hiroshima blast is a highlight. I also like when Frankenstein pops up from the lake, and terrorizes the pleasure boat. Reminds me a lot of the similar sequence in Godzilla King of the Monsters! Yeah, there are alot of money shots in this movie.

The one thing I never understood was how the Frankenstein monster was created. Did the heart evolve into a whole creature after the Hiroshima bombing or did it happen when a boy in the hospital ruins ate that now radioactive heart?

That one scene where Frankenstein is in his cell, then the reporters come in and start harassing him with their flash bulbs, and he eventually becomes irritated and breaks out, really reminded me a lot of “Mighty Joe Youngâ€

Fun movie.
I don't really like the idea of using a human as a "giant creature" in the same scene as a monster suit. It ruins the whole effect and pulls me out of the movie. But the fight scenes were fun.

What I really want to see is the giant octopuss ending that got cut.

Whooopeeee! Ha-ha, Jim (and did you really need to point out one typo? You're such a b*tch!). Now, with that being said, of course the whole "Frankenstein-Monster-grows-from-the-radioactive-heart" bit is only based on the internal logic of these films. Talk about someone pissing in the punchbowl.
