Cheers! There are some choice behind-the-scenes photos from KKE (keeping this on-topic) to boot!
Despite the "Water Kong" suit, with the big Mardi Gras head, the film is a fun adventure. I don't mind the primary suit, because I think the glassy eyes were meant to ape (pun intended) the cartoon version. In retrospect, they should have used the suit actor's eyes -- like they did in THE WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS.
The only other complaint that I have is the giant sea snake -- combined with the Mardi Gras Kong, doesn't make for a convincing scene. On the other hand, Gorosaurus and Mechani-Kong come of great, and the miniature photography and the traveling matte work is generally top-notch. Not Honda and Tsuburaya's best
kaiju eiga, but it does offer a solid afternoon's entertainment at the movies.
BTW, the film was very successful at the US box office for Universal in the summer of 1968.
