The H-man, ¿precursor of the blob?

I think THE BLOB was out first, but both movies were finished in 1958 so I am not certain.
I'd like THE H-MAN on my cable but I'd be happier if Sony/Columbia would throw us a frickin' bone and release THE H-MAN, BATTLE IN OUTER SPACE and MOTHRA on DVD.

Both films were parallel productions -- meaning that they were being produced at the same time, with the respective filmmakers unaware of what the others were doing.

Yup, August said it right. The H-Man was released several months before the Blob, but they were made at the same time.

Still on topic, I've always thought that the scene from "Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster" where Hedorah begins oozing down the stairs at the nightclub seemed a little "the blob at the movie theater scene"-inspired.

I never considered this movie in any way comparable to
The Blob aside from both coming out in 1958. Like The Blob, I think The H-Man is a very good movie. Very creepy.
