I just got the DVD today and I must say I enjoyed it a lot more this time than at G-Fest. At G-Fest it was the dubbed version with an annoying promotional "www.negadonattacks.com" banner above the screen for the WHOLE MOVIE, and the projection looked blurry from where I was sitting (which was far away- and the picture seemed a lot more blurry and stuff from where I was)... not to mention it was after 9:30 and I was worried I'd miss the shuttle to the Pickwick for Gamera.
So seeing this in the comfort of my own home, the animation looked a million times better, the filter they created for it was a lot easier to appreciate, and I found myself more invested in the story (since I was in such a hurry at G-Fest).
Story-wise and script wise, its still nothing to hop up and down about, but its a fantastic homage to the Showa Toho films and the 90s Gamera films, with some splashes of Ultraman, Giant Robo, etc. thrown in as well. The fact that it was made by one person and looks better than a lot of CGI that I've seen in Hollywood films is very inspiring. I hope this film gets around to SPFX people all over the place because the whole film is great eye candy. The 2 short films in the extras of the DVD are also a lot of fun as well.
Although the movie itself isn't much, its the best that it could have been and this is a very well put together DVD that I'd recommend to ANYBODY even remotley interested in kaiju movies and/or computer animation. Its also very inspiring to people interested in working in the computer animation field. Its a damn shame it couldn't have been screen at the Pickwick because that would have looked amazing.
