I just got done watching Atragon for the first time and I loved it. I loved how the film was set up. For the first hour or so of the film the Mu Empire talks smack non stop about how they are going to subjugate the surface world into their colonies and how they are superior to the surface people in every way. 5 minutes into the 1 and only battle their prisoners escape, empiress is captured and God is defeated. 10 minutes into the film their power source is destroyed, and their empire blows up. And to add insult to injury their most powerful ship couldn't touch the atragon but was frozen in 1 hit. Seriously the entire film the Mu are cocky and arrogant about how awesome they are and then bam less than 10 minutes into the first battle they are owned. I loved this film. 4 stars

You don't have to like my comments -- we have our own opinions, and I will express mine as I please (I have family that fought in WW2 so we could continue to enjoy American freedom, so I do). I *HATE* GFW. I think it is an awful film. It's sloppy. Terribly made. Contemptable. There, I said it. But, this is an ATRAGON thread, and if I wanted to go on and on about GFW, I would post in the GFW section. I already have in the past, said my piece and moved on. The less I am reminded about GFW, the better. FYI, I will not address anything further on GFW in this thread.

Anyhow, if Higuchi did a sequel or a remake, I would be all for it. I would like to see the Atragon engage in far more battles than in the first film... That would be great. :)

Sorry didn't mean to rub you the wrong way with my comment. It wasn't meant to be taken that way.

No problem... we all have our opinions, and we all have to respect that fact. We don't have to like these opinions, but we have to respect the other person's right to express his own opinions. I'm certainly not going to apologize for ragging on a movie -- this isn't world politics, they're movies. Novel entertainments. There are movies that I like that others don't. Hell, most of the world can't tell the difference between GMK and GFW, and think that all of these films are "cheesy"... it's all about perspective and perception.

Speaking of which, I've gotta go do laundry (ugh) and confirm a date (yay)... So, talk to ya'all later! :)

It's not really a "giant monster movie" at all. Yes, Manda does make an appearence, but it's only for a couple minutes, and he's dispatched by the Atragon sub pretty easily. It's much more of a straight-up sci-fi/lost civilization film than a kaiju film.
