planetXleader, I pretty much agree with everything you said. I myself saw Dogora for the first time this weekend, along with THE MYSTERIANS! (honestly, is that not the coolest name ever?)

I was never really interested in this film before because it was said to be a crime spoof type thing with a little monster footage, but it turned out the crime stuff was gold! Robert Dunham is THE MAN! and when the adult Dogora shows up; fantastic!!! Some of Tsuburaya's best FX work, and inspired kaiju!

I remember seeing some of these photos when I was younger and wondering how such fantastic images (like Dogora ripping a skyscraper in half) could possibly be created Toho style. Fast-foward to present day, and now that I've seen the film, I'm impressed with what was shown.

Dogora is ok. It has its moments. I give it points for originality, but I just find it to be the worst of Toho's non Godzilla kaiju movies.

*Argh!* ... finally, my DVD arrived and it was defect! :? Now I have to wait for another two weeks. However, I must praise Amazon: About one hour after filling out the return form, I got an email saying that the return of the defective DVD would be too expensive, so they will just send me a new one. Great customer service! :)

I watched the movie subbed last night and my enjoyment remains the same: great, fun, entertaining Toho flick; I love every minute of it, really. :D
