An issue of Greg Shoemaker's Japanese Fantasy Film Journal did a couple of informative pieces on THE LAST DINOSAUR back in the day. Also, local film critic (and horror movie host) John Stanley wrote a feature article on the premiere for the San Francisco Chronicle/Examiner Sunday Datebook (he interviewed Overguard). Greg's article in JFFJ pulls quotes from Stanley's article.
THE LAST DINOSAUR's vocalist was none other than Jazz great -- not be confused with the guitarist of the same name from the band Heart. Miss Wilson, who began her career in 1952 (at the age of 15), is still out there recording and performing. (She was born the same year as Shirley Bassey, 1937.)
That photo of the rotting Gorosaurus suit seems to originate from the a special section on monster suits in their last days in a book on GODZILLA (1984), published by Shogakukan, IIRC (I have it buried somewhere in a box). The pictorial also features Godzilla, Anguirus, Kumonga and others -- all in glorious color (too bad they are in such a state of decay).
