As far as the fan script with the The Mysterians, perhaps that was one of of the hundreds of scripts entered into the GODZILLA 2 script competition of which BIOLLANTE was the ultimate winner?

I found a confirmation of this in Guy Mariner Tucker's "Age of the Gods" (page 190): Jun Fukuda recalled that Kong had been scratched out of the script by the time Fukuda got it. (Nakano too; who adds the villian was an octopus not a shrimp at first. [...])

The "giant rat" that was scrapped from GvsBiollante was actually a Rat/Fish hybrid called Deutalios. Godzilla was to defeat Deutalios during the Osaka rampage, and then devour the carcass afterward, giving the JDSF time to construct the Thunder Field.

Grendizer (Goldorak) was Go Nagai's best giant robot series, IMO. A live-action version would be incredible.

I'm also a fan of GUNMM (sp) or Battle Angel Alita. Didn't know about the Dark Angel connection. Cool.
