New Godzilla: The Ride coming from Takashi Yamazaki!

Didn't know exactly where to put this since no forum description felt *quite* right, but since it's "general Godzilla film-related" and from the writer/director of the last one, I figured here would be good. :P

So yeah, Takashi Yamazaki is overseeing another Godzilla ride!

At first I was like "hey that's cool, but I can't get too excited about it given that it'll probably never open outside Japan just like the current one." But then upon reading Scifi Japan's version of the news I saw this:

"In addition, the "New Godzilla: The Ride" footage will be distributed in collaboration with Taiwan-based Brogent to over 40 facilities around the world, including Japan, that have introduced the company's i-Ride ride system, reaching Godzilla and theme park fans not only in Japan but all over the world.

Please stay tuned for further details, such as the ride's full title, monsters, and screening locations."

Granted that probably just means 38 locations in Japan, one in China and one in the US, but at least there's hope!

They should pop a Godzilla: The Ride venue in Universal Studios. They've got Jurassic Park, King Kong, Dark Universe (the classic Universal Monsters land they just opened), plus Halloween Horror Nights... if they had Godzilla they could promote they've got all the monsters!

I've never been to Disney World, Disneyland or a Universal Studios theme park in my life. As a kid in the '90s, I did go to the Six Flags theme park in Arlington, Texas, which was adorned with Looney Tunes branding and had staff walking around dressed in mascot costumes as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other characters. I also went to Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio, which had costumed staff dressed as Hanna-Barbera characters like Fred Flintstone, Scooby-Doo and George Jetson. It's been more than 25 years since the last time I went to either of those, and probably more than 20 years since the last time I went to a state fair, so I haven't been on any rides in a while.

Seeing video footage of the old King Kong Encounter at Universal Studios Hollywood with the giant animatronic Kong torso always fascinated me but I never got to go there before that ride was destroyed in the 2008 fire. I know they ended up replacing it with a screen-based immersion ride based on Peter Jackson's King Kong remake, and I know that screen-based rides primarily featuring computer graphics like that have become much more prevalent in the years since, including Toho's previous version of Godzilla The Ride. It's great that this new Godzilla ride has a shot at being available at theme parks around the world instead of just in Japan.
