JD Lees and John Roberto started G-Con. Eventually there were disagreements between the two (I know a lot had to do with John's bashing of Toho for not letting them show the Heisei films at the Con) and they branched off. John kept the name G-Con and JD changed to G-Fest. I know there were some legal proceedings that occurred between the two. JD spoke about it in G-Fan several times. G-Con eventually faded and John left the fandom.
