Favorite Ending Cue In The Series?

Normally a question like this would be hard for me to answer, but nowadays its really damn easy.

For me it's gotta be Son Of Godzilla's, no doubt. Masaru Sato was a very skilled, well rounded, and lush composer. Pieces like SOG's end cue, and his scores for the Godzilla movies he worked on with Jun Fukuda were great. And he did a really bang up job in Submersion of Japan and Battle Of Okinawa too.

I'm not sure about my favorite but I really like how most of Akira Ifukube's scores in the Showa Era ended with a similar-sounding end cue, often one which crescendos twice right at the end. It was like his "That's All, Folks!" signature.

Yeah, I'd say that's very true. It's very apparent with movies like Destroy All Monsters, Terror of Mechagodzilla. Not so much the way the entire track sounded, but the way it specifically ends.

I've always been impressed with the music at the very end of Son of Godzilla. I really like Saito's scores for the series and I think the last minute of that film might be his best moment. It's a unique mix of emotions at the end of SoG, different from anything else in the series, and the music rises to the occasion.

Came in here expecting Gigan's ending song. Hey, as much as I dislike the movie, there's no denying that music is a work of art. Another ending cue I really like is DAM's. It's a bit melancholy, but not depressing. You get the sense that the franchise was about to go on hiatus for a while, as it nearly did. Between DAM and Gigan, I'm not sure I can choose a favourite ending cue.

I like vs Gigan! And I like its ending cue too, it fits its film pretty well. DAM's did feel like the series would go on hiatus (or even end). I get an even stronger feel during Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Gotta go with "Son of Godzilla". Then "Destroy All Monsters" and then "War of the Gargantuas".

I was thinking Son of Godzilla as soon as I saw the title of this thread. Happy I'm not alone in that. I think it's some of Sato's very best work in the series. The piece by Hattori before the end credits of Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla was a gorgeous piece-- Probably one of the few fitting cues in the entire movie. And Ko Otani's last bit before the credits of GMK is a favorite by default. He always seems to deliver beautiful, "Phew... It's over..." pieces.

A really massive standout, however, are the end credits of Tokyo S.O.S. It's very far removed from the series norm and Oshima found a way to utilize her MechaGodzilla theme into a wonderful resolve that really stands on its own. Ultimately it was a fitting farewell for her run in the series.

It's nice to see a lot of folks are thinking the same thing here. SoG's ending cue is really strong.

Now I wonder if Shaw Bros ever used it in any of their movies, since they love to use Toho cues in their films.

EDIT: Godzilla vs Gigan's is probably my third favorite in the series. It feels upbeat and well deserved after a hard fought battle.

The ending cues that stick out to me are G85 and Terror of MG. I actually went back and listened to a bunch of end themes this weekend...the scores for many Godzilla films are really amazing and far more memorable than most of the music in movies these days.

I think Masaru Sato could compose for darker films. I really liked his score in Submersion of Japan and Battle Of Okinawa.

Those Sato tunes were rather unremarkable IMHO.

I like the melancholy note that some of the heisei movies end on, and my favourite is the beautiful rendition of Sacred Spring at the end of Godzilla vs Mothra. Of all the flaws in Sony's recent blu-rays that I've experienced so far, having this cue unceremoniously cut in half is the one I find most annoying. I believe the Sony DVD did the same thing, but my previous copy of the movie was the Madman DVD, so the omission feels like a step back.
