So the teaser for the next Death Battle episode was released today:



If you're unfamiliar with Death Battle, it's basically a show where they compare all the powers and abilities of two combatants, then pit the characters against each other. It's like Deadliest Warrior, but entertaining. One thing to note is that they like to let the characters use every power they've had in canon. So their Godzilla would probably be able to fly and be able to use his ungodly powerful atomic ray from GFW. And likewise, Gamera should have his fireballs and his Showa flame breath.

With that in mind... well, we don't debate monster battles here very much, but feel free to place your bets anyway.

Godzilla all the way. If they give them their most powerful forms, Godzilla has Gamera beat, hands down. The only real advantage Gamera has is his flying, since he is kind of known for it and maneuvers better than Godzilla.

Wow I never thought they'd do it. I'm rooting for Godzilla, but have the feeling Gamera is going to win. I think if they are going to factor in all sorts of things here, I'll bet Godzilla will have an edge in Melee combat simply because of how many maneuvers Godzilla has in that department, but also because of how much of a weight advantage he has here. Gamera is literally 1/144th of Godzilla's weight most of the time.

Hmm then there is the ability Gamera has in absorbing heat.

When is this supposed to hit the web?

Godzilla. If they just compare the rogues gallery and who gave who trouble there's no way iris could take out KG IMO, legion without his horde would get ripped by destroyah, and barugon would be decimated by mechagodzilla.

Now if you want to compare GFW Godzilla vs Super Monster Gamera, Godzilla took out 3 monsters simultaneously in once scene, Gameras battles were all 1 on 1 and he died taking out that ship. Godzilla is durable and can be downright vicious at times. Add I. Godzilla with the personality and biting of GMK, the instant regen of G2K, the leaping of SeaMonster, the nuclear absorption of 85, the flying of vHedorah, the lightning charging magnetism of vMG, the punching speed of ToMG, the durability of vsMothra92, the intelligence stength speed accuracy and reaction time of GFW, the ferocity of GRA, the leadership of DAM, the tail swipe of megarogoji, the hyper beam of GvD, the nuclear pulse of vKG (had its biggest impact there), and the finishing moves of legendgoji and there's not monster that's been features in a live action film that would stand a chance.

If they're not going to combine the powers of every film then what Gamera can beat GFW goji? He's not as durable and can be picked out of the sky coming from space.

The one thing that makes me think Gamera could win is the Mana Beam. Of course, it takes him long enough to draw upon mana that they'll probably just have Godzilla blast him to death before he can use it.

Also, if they manage to force Godzilla into his meltdown state during the fight proper, I... actually won't know what to think.

One thing I will say is that, even though there probably aren't any Gamera sprite sheets in existence, I kinda wish they'd gone that route instead of the 3D models. Especially after that shot of Godzilla roaring.

Totally looked like his fins/spines weren't attached.

I think theyd be crazy to have Gamera win. ANyone thats a Gamera fan was a Goji fan first just about and I think every other time its been done Goji wins or its inconclusive. There was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynl2abx1baI
Still there Superman Goku was quite entertaining. I wonder if they'll touch on the weight or durability difference. In terms of cool looking powers, gamera might win.

I mean, if they make Gamera win, they'll likely have a good reason to back it up...


...but I'd be surprised if he won. These guys look at EVERY power the monsters have had, so Godzilla WILL be able to match Gamera in terms of flight. He'll also have his electromagnetism ability, but I don't know what good it will do against Gamera. Also, I'm assuming they'll look at stuff like how Godzilla has been impaled in the past with little to no effect other than briefly stunning him and pissing him off, while Gamera gets severely injured often. Durability is gonna win this battle for Godzilla.

The only way I see Gamera winning is if they somehow imply that one of his attacks causes Godzilla to melt down.

Gamera has the ability to come back to life with a never seen before super weapon perfect for destroying the foe at hand with a single blow.

Gamera got harmed (not killed though) by the Self Defense Forces tank guns and fighter planes. Mother Legion lost limbs to fighter planes. 150-180 meter tall Mother Legion is still a fraction of Godzilla's lightest weight. Gamera had a problem holding her back. In melee capabilities Godzilla and his kin have the edge.

Kinda interesting they left off spiral-death-beam from the later Heisei films...

also, I watched this a couple days ago and I remember one reasonably biggish factual error but I no longer specifically remember what it was. Still, these things are for entertainment purposes, so it's hard to really fault them.

I got a kick out of Boomstick saying he was gonna try to fly too.

Went back and re-watched it...

It was a bit of a technicality. They claim Toho bought the rights to GINO...but that's not really true. They ALWAYS had the rights.

Apparently Godzilla won .O.

Can you give us a rundown? Were factors such as physical strength and durability weighed in?

Was ever any doubt?

I felt bad for Gamera but I lolled hard at the tail slide.
