Three Films to Introduce Non-Fans?

The battles weren't silly. Godzilla's intelligence was displayed expertly when the UFO tried a sneak attack from above. The camera angle/miniature destruction scene when Godzilla swings his tail around to confront Orga is on par with '90's Gamera films. Those are just 3 good reasons, not to mention it had a very solid sci-fi story to it.

I can get on board with showing G2K as an introductory film. My friends and I were all kids when it came out, for one thing, so there's a bit of nostalgia involved. And people tend to recognize the title, even if they get the actual movie confused with GINO (which I've seen happen at least twice). Other than that, I'd say Walsh is basically right.

To answer the topic's question, my ideal approach would be:

Gojira
Biollante
GMK (or G2K)

But in practice, it's worked out more like this:

GFW
G2K
Gojira

My friends are all about nonstop action movies, so GFW comes up early if not first. And G2K has the assets I mentioned above. By that point, Gojira can be a hard sell when they're not usually interested in slower, black & white, subtitled movies, but I'd feel a bit annoyed with myself if I didn't at least suggest watching it. Fortunately, Gojira tends to go over surprisingly well.

Godzilla KOTM - Because it's the essential Godzilla film, along with the ideal cheesy monster movie. It introduces Godzilla and has a nice eerie, dark tone, but at the same time, it has some outdated special effects and concepts that could lead to a good laugh or two as well as some movie analysis between you and your friends.
Godzilla Vs. Biollante - A bit more serious, and has an equal amount of Godzilla smashing buildings and the story of another strange Kaiju. The plot being more realistic liekly will draw in non-fans further, and its' odd tone will be very entertaining for everyone.
Tokyo S.O.S. - This movie is what non-fans think of when they hear the name Godzilla. There's a huge fight, mass destruction, and wild monsters. MechaG and Mothra will be recognizable, and the plot is strong enough to keep those used to high-budget movies happy.

I'd also throw in some essentials such as KKvG, or GTTHM, to add some more intersting kaiju to the mix.

Goji '85.. that way if they become fans they can join me and the rest of the fans that want this roar to return
GMK.. lots of monster action, good luck trying to convince them that Ghidorah is evil everywhere else...

If allowed one film from each era (original is its own entity) I would add goji vs mothra 60s..

Explaining continuity would be annoying, and I would love to have Monster Zero in there too.. (but it would be too soon to expose people to the sheer badass that is Rodan).

King of the Monsters is a no-brainer. Followed up by Mechagodzilla '92 to illustrate the Heisei era, then maybe Final Wars for the action.
