Yup. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974). When I was growing up as a kid watching this movie, there were things in it that I never really paid attention to until I got older, like....

I use to think that the MG suit was actually a metal suit. (was just 7-10 years old now) Here, you can clearly see the creases in the rubber suit. (which you can also see in other close ups of MG's reveal.


I sometimes forgot that MG had missles to launch out of his mouth. I never really paid attention to it before, but here, you can see he has missles in his mouth. Something I didn't notice growing up.


I use to also think that this scene with Angilas had him either underwater(??) or even in a cavern underground. I never paid attention to the fact that he was walking outside among snow covered mountains. I was totally oblivious to the snow. Don't know how I missed that. (was still just a kid now )



I think I like the Angilas suit from DAM and Gigan better.

When I was a kid I had Vs. The Cosmic Monster on VHS and the Angilas scene wasn't even on it. I didn't see that until years later on scifi.

You know something. This movie right here is probably the one movie containing scenes (or a scene) where it really looks like rubber suited monsters fighting. I'm talking about the fake Godzilla suit-Angilas battle. Know what I mean?

I don't mind it one bit. I mean, the film's so colorful and fun and campy, it's part of the charm.

The Goodtimes Godzilla vs. The Cosmic Monster probably came from an edited TV print. It runs less than 65 minutes, a good fifteen minutes shorter than the "complete" American cut and almost twenty minutes shorter than the Japanese version.

One more tidbit from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974). Anyone ever notice Godzilla's shadow(s) on the giant background diorama on the set when he and fake Godzilla/Mechagodzilla are battling each other?

Correct-a-mundo. (sorry, Fonzie flashback there) It's Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Mechagodzilla pyrotechnics anyone? Here you can see the box shooting out explosives that's supposed to double for MG's mouth missles.





Always wondered about the look of this MG prop when Godzilla over the shoulder tossed it. Look at the hands and feet.


The least they could've done if they were gonna use the fake Godzilla suit for this shot is put that piece of Godzilla's shoulder back on that blew off of him in the previous movie. (revealing MG's armor) You can clearly see they didn't replace it.
