Not much of any detail at the link which is pretty much the entire quoted article above.

I'm inclined to think Toho was slow on the applied trademark and any other legal hubbub, but quick on the lawsuit. Call me cynical.

At this point, they aren't much more than a trademark/copyright watchdog.
