So, you guys ever curious about what it is? Or at least what it might resemble for a real world dinosaur (not Toho's canon). The Smithsonian was nice enough to give you a less technical version of Kenneth Carpenter's study for you to read. A second study is also available, but it's behind a paywall, but I guess if you have 40 bucks to spare, you can pay to read this paper. Darren Naish of Tetrapod Zoology also wrote an article on Godzilla and the possibility of such an animal.

Remember, all of these articles are published by real paleontologists. They are fun and educational. Kenneth Carpenter's paper is pretty much in line with what I suspect Godzilla to be if it was a real dinosaur.

I recommend reading the comments to since many of the people that visit those 2 sites above are academics or people with interest in the field of Zoology and Paleontology.

Have fun.

Neat reads.

Though, the issue of Godzilla's mass is really interesting. I always explained it away as it being his Regenerator G-1 at work. It not only heals him, but is constantly working overtime to keep him from falling apart. Though that doesn't explain the other monsters.
