10. Katagiri - Godzilla 2000. Probably the most interesting character in the Millennium series.

9. Mr. Tako - King Kong vs. Godzilla. It was ashamed that this was Ichirô Arishima only appearance in a G film.

8. Ichiro - Godzlla's Revenge. I always thought his was an interesting story.

7. Yoshimura, the bank robber - Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. Akira Takarada seemed to have fun with this role.

6. Malness, the assassin - Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster. Always love how he got his comeuppance at the end!

5. Steve Martin - GKOTM. Despite being inserted, Raymond Burr did a pretty good job I thought.

4. Dr. Yamane - GKOTM. Brilliantly played by the great Takashi Shimura.

3. Shiro Torahata - Godzilla vs. The Thing. Probably the best villain in any Godzilla film.

2. Dr. Serazawa - GKOTM. Probably the darkest character in all G films.

and

1. Astronaut Glen - Monster Zero. Probably the most fun character in all G films.

10. Princess Selno: (Akiko Wakabayashi) maybe not the most versatile actress in the genre, but def one of the most memorable/beautiful ones. Here she played her character well enough.

9. Captain Gordon: (Don Frye) Say what you want, but his character just had "BAD @$$" written all over it. Plus he's a far better actor than most wrestlers/mma fighters who've tried their hand at films.

8. M11: (Robert Scott Field) Another fine example of "BAD @SS" here as he doesn't need a whole lot of dialogue and can still come off effective.

7. The Editor: (Jun Tazake) One of the funnier characters. He always makes me think of JK Simmons as the Editor from Spider Man as they both have very similar demeanors that you just love to hate.

6. Mr. Tako: Goofy Japanese Boss with an Italain Accent for a dub. Enough said.

5. Dayjo: (Kumi Mizuno) No actress in the Godzilla series had an outfit hotter than hers here. Plus she played a good strong/independent female character.

4. Katagiri: Probably the best "@$$hole" character in the whole series. His presence alone is just so ominous that you immediately love to hate this guy. He even did the dramatic stare. duh DUH DUHHHHHHHHHHH.

3. Ogatta: (Akira Takarada) Probably his defining moment. Classic handsome hero in a monster film. What more could you ask for.

2. Mugal: "The" best villain/alien character in the whole series. Cool, calm, sadistic, and manipulative. This dude had it all. And the english dub, probably the best dub in all the films put together.

1. Dr. Scherozawa: Best human character by far. So mysterious yet tragic. The man who destroyed Godzilla.

That guy with the glasses who was trying to sell his car to the bank robbers in Godzilla's Revenge. I just love his effeminate sounding voice in the dubbed version.

"Mr. Kobuta" from Godzilla On Monster Island. Such a sleazy-looking villian.

Also, any character played by the great, Ikio Sawamura. This little guy is just so much fun to watch! He's also great as the corrupt officer in Kurosawa's Yojimbo. I especially like him as the "honest fisherman" in Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster, as well as the Mondo Island native in King Kong Escapes...

..."KONG-DONG-DI-MATSU!!!"...or something like that lol!

Aside from all the usual favorites (Serizawa, Mr. Shindo, Glenn, etc.), I always liked the many characters played by Hiroshi Koizumi. He has always been my personal favorite of the "Toho stock company" of actors because, although he played mostly un-charismatic scientist types, he always brought a stoic, authority to them while at the same time maintaining a genuine charm and friendliness to them. It was really great to see him reprise his role as Chujo in Tokyo SOS. It's good to know that time and old age hasn't diminished his matinee-idol good looks, and he does a genuinely good job in that movie.

Professor Miyajima in Godzilla vs. The Cosmic Monster. You can't go wrong with "Vintage" Akihiko Hirata!
