G-Fest XVI?

I didn't see a G-Fest specific thread, but if this is the wrong place for it, or there is one already and I just didn't see it, please feel free to move or delete this.
Maybe to get the ball rolling I can give you a run-down of my situation...
I've never been to a G-Fest, but I'm strongly considering it. My girlfriend and a mutual friend of ours have both said they'd like to go with me. They've both watched a fair share of Godzilla/giant monster movies with me, but I wouldn't call them hardcore fans. I live in southeast Michigan, so it'd only be like an eight hour drive, and hell, I could use a road trip.
The flipside being that money is a little tight for me. My girlfriend and friend enjoy the occasional giant monster, but they're not super crazy about Godzilla and friends like I am. Plus missing getting wasted at our friends' house and watching them shoot roman candles at each other would be a pretty big 4th of July party foul.
So I'm a little torn... here are my questions:
Is it cool?
Will casual fans (i.e. friend and girlfriend) have a good time?
Is it worth the money?
Is it worth missing 4th of July parties?
Is one or two days enough, or is there really enough to justify going all three days?
Is the Awards Lunch worth the hefty price tag?
Feedback is hella appreciated.
