Favorite Mechagodzilla Movie?

Simple poll. Which Mechagodzilla movie did you like the most? He's definately changed the most with each adaption as he has looked almost completely different with all three incarnations, and the movies themselves reflect that with a different origin and plot for each film.

So which one did you like the most?

For me this is very hard, but I am going to say Terror of Mechagodzilla. I thought it was the best made of the 70s films, and was an all around entertaining and well put together Godzilla film.

I loved all the Mechagodzilla films except for GXMG. Its not bad, but leaves a little bit to be desired.

I think the original G vs. MG, the 93 film, & Tokyo SOS are all kick ass movies. The 74 film is just very entertaining and a lot of fun with some great violent battle scenes. The 93 movie is probably the most action packed film in the series as there is very little time where a monster is not on screen. And we got some pretty cool moments as well. And Tokyo SOS, while feeling like they borrowed a bit too much from the past, was a very well put together film was terrific fight scenes (actually just one really long fight if you think about it) And a nice conclusion to what was set up in the film before.

MG 74 was by far the most entertaining.

I'm pretty sure the most action-packed film in the series would be Final Wars.[/quote]

That's for damn sure.

But anyway, I went with the first film. To me THAT should have ended the Showa era flicks if they were going to do it then instead of TERROR as I believe the first film is far superior and TOMG is just too bizarre and depressing. To each his own but in my eyes '74 remains the best Mecha G film out of them all.

I went with the original, followed by Terror of MechaGodzilla and Tokyo S.O.S.
MechaGodzilla is an interesting character and fun to see reinvented (atleast in the millenium series), but the original appearance is the best. It's fun, it's crazy, and it has Angilas.

Terror of Mechagodzilla for me. Mechagodzilla is a true bad-ass in this movie.

Tokyo SOS sucks, by the way. Sorry, sometimes, I just can't help but bringing that to everyone's attention :D

I'm surprised that more people like Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla '93, than the later, Tezuka-directed film. It was my understanding that among fans, all of the Heisei films were trash. I would always beg to differ on that point, and I just watched MG'93 a couple days ago. I had fairly forgotten how much I really liked it.

It would have to be a mix of ties

For best: Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla 74 and Terror of Mecha-Godzilla

For worst: Godzilla x Mecha-Godzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo SOS.

Very difficult to choose but I would say Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla (1974) closely followed by the 1993 film (love Ifukube's music especially in it). I like Titanosaurus but for whatever reason "Terror" doesn't do much for me.

Every time I want to like the 93 film, two things BOTHER me relentlessly...

1.) WHY list it as Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II??? They didn't do that to any of the other Heisei films, it's just WIERD

2.) The scene where they fly around on the pterodactyl thing just KILLS me, I FF it every time...

TOMG is my personal fav. of all the MechaG movies. Definitely the best G film of the 70s, and Titanosaurus alone elevates this movie up a couple notches in the rankings. GvsMG 74 was also very good, but TOMG was much more polished and slick (no doubt a credit to the likes of Honda and Co. returning for one more run, albeit it's not Honda's best work when compared to all his prior works). Believe it or not, but I loved Sato's score in GvsMg74 better than Ifukube's score in TOMG (which in itself is also a spectacular score).

GvsMG 93 wasn't bad...one of the better heisei films (far better than GvsMothra or GvsSpaceGodzilla).

As far the "Kiyru" debacles...I'm not going there anymore...my signature sums up my views on them. The most exciting event that came out of both those films was *very* briefly seeing Kamoebas' dead corpse in a split second cameo...

I like em all for different reasons, though the Showa films get too absurd for my tastes. Still better than the frickin middle dropping out of the Heisei film with the dang Pteranodon Robot romantic moment. And yet both beat the annoying half baked coming of age dookie that permeated the Millennium efforts.

STILL...

The Millennium versions had the best effects, the Heisei had the coolest monster designs and best score. The Showa was the freshest and most earnest effort.

I'm going with Heisei for no other reasons than Godzilla was 100 meters tall!!! Woot, der it izzzzz... :P
