No smooching!

I was reading another forum on Japanese culture and it was stated that there was a taboo against on-screen kissing in Japanese movies prior to post-war Japan.
The only on-screen smooch in a Godzilla movie was between Nick Adams and Kumi Mizuno in Monster Zero in 1965. I wonder if that old taboo had anything to do with it?

If I had to choose between watching two people smooch in a Godzilla movie or a sex scene in a Godzilla movie, I'd rather see smooching.
