I've always pronounced Biollante as "Bio - lan - tay" : with 'Bio' as in biology and the 'A' prounced similar to the 'a' in lawn or pawn.

I'm not consistant with Hedorah. Sometimes I'll notice myself saying it like "He - door - ah" and other times like "Hea - door - ah" {the 'hea' said like the 'hea' portion of head}.

On a similar note? Anguirus what's the correct pronounciation? I generally say it something like "Ang - gear - us".

Bio - lan - tee

lan = like in clan, or flan

Hee - door - uh

Ang - weer - us

weer = like "we're"

... I've been known to refer to him as Angilas as well.. An - gee - luss

Biollante: Bio - lawn - tay

Hedorah: Hee - drah

Angilas: Ain - gyill - liss

Gigan: Guy - gan (After pronouncing it "Gig - in" my whole life (for some reason), I just sorta realized that "Gig - in" was never said in any of his films, and I simply began saying "Guy - gan" around the time of Final Wars.)

Ghidorah: Ghid - er - uh (I only use "Gee - dora" when making fun of the GDAMM/GSTE announcer, lol.)

Ebirah: Eee - burr - ah (I used to pronounce it "Eee - buy - rah.")

Possibly the funniest of my old, no-longer-used pronounciations belonged to Mechanikong. For some reason, I used to say his name as "Mecha - nuy - Kong." It wasn't until a year or so ago it occured to be that the "Mechani" would/should be pronounced the same as "mechanical." Mechanical Kong. Mechanikong. Duh.

What do you guys mean by "correct" pronunciation?
If you mean the correct Japanese pronunciations,
they go a little something like this:

Biollante （ビオランテ）: Bee-oh-rahn-teh (that final syllable should be spelled "t-e-h," but the site "corrects" it to "the," incorrectly assuming I mispelled it. Should sound like the "te" in "telephone.")

Ebirah (エビラ): Eh-bee-rah

Hedora (ヘドラ): Heh-doh-rah　

Angilas (アンギラス): Ahn-gee-rahs　

Ghidorah (ギドラ): Gee-doh-rah　

Gaigan (ガイガン): Gah-ee-gahn　

The "ee" sounds above are pronounced as the "ee" in "see" or "green."
The phonetic syllables are unstressed and of the same duration. That is, nothing is drawn out or truncated; all syllables receive the same stress and duration, and with no space in between (so Gah-ee-gahn sounds more like "Guy-gan" when spoken at speed.) There is no accenting of syllables.

The problem when trying to express things phonetically is that different people have different ideas of how spellings sound...the spellings I've used above will approximate the correct Japanese pronunciations when pronounced in standard American English.

Again, these are the correct Japanese pronunciations of some of our favorite kaiju (kah-ee-jyoo, "oo" as in "loop") names. There appear to be plenty of variations in the English-dubbed versions.

As far as American pronounciations go:

Anguirus: Ayng-ger-us. I never liked hearing "Ang-gwee-rus," it just sounded incorrect. I actually used to just call him Angilas, but I've been switching to the former recently.

Hedorah: Hee-der-ra. I used to have trouble with this as a kid 'cause it sounded so close to "Ghidrah." In my eyes though, it should be the official Western pronounciation of the name, though I've been catching myself using "Head-der-ra," thanks to the new DVD.

Ghidorah: I detest the "Ghee-door-ra," pronounciation as seen in the international dubs, and opt instead to use the Japanse pronounciation, "Ghee-do-rah," which also sounds pretty close to the original Americanized title, "Ghidrah."
