Personal Kaiju Eiga Traditions (Anyone?)

Growing up in Detroit, I saw alot of Godzilla movies on TV. Sure, I already owned all of them on tape, but I was so crazy about Godzilla back then, whenever one of his classic films came on the tube, I was right there in front of it.
On Thanksgiving, here in Detroit, Channel 4 (WDIV) used to show Godzilla movies every year, around mid-afternoon, right before the big football game. As I recall they either showed Monster Zero and Rodan, or Monster Zero and Terror of Mechagodzilla. Either way, I've always remembered seeing MZ on Thanksgiving day. So much so, that it started to become a traditon for me. Yeah, I can definately watch the other films on Thanksgiving day, but Godzilla vs. Monster Zero, as I grew up knowing it as, just always seemed right to me on that particular day. The same thing happened this year. I've been watching that movie on turkey day for the past fifteen years now, and it still either starts off the day, or finishes it off with a bang, depending on when I decide to watch it.
I just felt like sharing this with everyone, because last night, with about twelve beers in me, I think I had more fun watching a kaiju movie than I've had in a long time. I was just grinning ear-to-ear, because I remember how much fun I had watching these movies as a kid, and I'm happy that my ability to enjoy them has not diminished with age.

So, with that in mind, does anyone else have any kind of kaiju traditions such as mine, that they wouldn't mind sharing?

If I'm ever awake when any daikaiju/giant monster movie that I like is on TV, and if I'm not doing anything else or watching anything else at the time, then I've always got it on. Hell, Zilla'98 is on Showtime Beyond right now, and I've got it on behind me listening to it. As the film that got me interested in Godzilla in the first place at the age of 9, it's always got a special place in my heart. As long as I keep the notion that it's an original monster movie and not Godzilla-related in any way firmly planted in my mind, I'm able to enjoy it.

I miss the Creature Double Feature that used to run on channel 56 in Boston. There were generally more monster movies on t.v. back then, as I recall, but the CDF was the best time to catch Godzilla and other Japanese creations.

If the Houston area ever had monster programming, I don't know when that might have been - it sure doesn't now.

My own specifically holiday tradition is of course to put a small Ghidorah on top of the tree.

After I'd collected a number of Godzilla movies {VHS - as I didn't have a DVD player yet} for awhile my father and I would watch a Godzilla movie every Saturday night rotating through them. It started off as watching the movies in production order. Sometimes we'd take a break and watch other movies for a week - but nearly every Saturday night for a few years a Godzilla film was in the VCR.

But then we moved out here to VA Beach - and all the household goods were in storage for several months before getting a house so the tradition kinda lost steam. We've tried getting it rolling again but not much success as yet.
