Realizing that Katsura's breasts were fake in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
made me cry. Does that count?

I cried at the end of Space Godzilla. Now and then, the question the film poses still keeps me up at night- How can any movie be this boring???

Despite being a Godzilla fan for pretty much all of my life, I've never really cried. But I have to echo the sentiments of others. The closest I've come is G85. I was only 5 or 6 when I saw it, and Godzilla's pained moaning shriek, unlike anything we hear out of him throughout the rest of the series, tugs on your heart strings. With that one sound, combined with the shot of Godzilla's shadow falling into the volcano, I think we feel more genuine emotion for Goji than perhaps any other scene in the series.

The aftermath of Godzilla's rampage, in the original, follwed by Serizawa's sacrifice was pretty intense. The finale of Rodan was really emotional too. One Rodan commits suicide to join its dying mate. The most touching part of that scene was when the Rodan prop snapped back, and flew up for a minute before crashing to the earth. Not planned, but a wise move by Tsuburaya to leave it in the film.

Let's see, what else is there? I thought the end of War of the Gargantuas was pretty sad. Also, Mothra's sacrifice at the hands of Godzilla in Godzilla vs. The Thing. Actually, that entire movie was packed with emotion. The end of Son of Godzilla choked me up a bit. When I was little, seeing Godzilla getting a the crap kicked out of him by Gigan, King Ghidorah and the Godzilla Tower in Godzilla vs. Gigan made me cry. And after all of the expertly-crafted mayhem that ensued in Terror of Mechagodzilla the final moments where Godzilla is swimming out to sea, not to be seen again, leaves me heavy-hearted sometimes.

As for the Heisei series, I always cried at the end of Godzilla 1985. Back then, I thought that was the only Godzilla movie ever made, so when he fell into the volcano, I thought that was it for him. When Shindo confronts Godzilla, both in dinosaur and nuclear forms, in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. Those were good moments. The reunion of Godzilla and Baby in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Godzilla trying to revive Junior, and then dying himself, in [/i]Godzilla vs. Destroyah[/i] and, when Chujo's grandson makes the Mothra symbol out of school desks, to summon Mothra in Tokyo SOS, are all moments where I found myself a little choked up, watching Godzilla movies.
