Guess the Godzilla movie image/Cool G movie image thread

That book made me a Godzilla fan before I had even seen a single Godzilla movie! My local library's copy of that book had the caption "Godzilla toys with attacking airplanes" altered with pencil to read "Godzilla attacks toy airplanes".

I remember having some book, back in the day, that had one small semi-chapter on Godzilla....that's about all I had by way of Godzilla books as a kid. It wasn't until I was in my teens and got the Godzilla Compendium that I had any sort of inkling into what goes into making these films.

I couldn't recall a single page of this book I'm referring to if I tried my hardest and did nothing but ruminate on it for DAYS, but I do remember the back having an index of Godzilla films, and the listing was rather incomplete, AND it listed Mothra vs. Godzilla as Godzilla vs. the Thing (a title I was unfamiliar with at all) and my young child's brain thought Godzilla was in a movie where he fought some sort of supersized version of the thing from The Thing from Another World.

My guess is Son of Godzilla, when the first balloon explodes above Sollgel Island and sets off the radioactive heat storm.

You got it Benjamin. It's Son of Godzilla. This was one of the last Showa Godzilla movies that I finally got to watch on Creature Double Feature in the early 80's. I liked it, but I remember I couldn't stand Minya. And the thing that I remember most from this movie? The funky-chunky fat Godzilla suit. (especially in certain camera angles... UGH!) For some reason though, it works for this movie. Go figure.




I guess the 1965-66(?) Godzilla suit is showing its age.



Why would that plane be flying so low above the water anyways??

Gratuitous hole alert! Look real closely and you can see the actors skin in one of the holes on the neck. (and it's not Mr. Nakajima in this one)




Ugh! One of the worst camera angles of this Godzilla suit I have ever seen.


The effects guys did an AWESOME job with Kumonga and Kamacuras.





Probably my most favorite all-time shot of Minya.


The sets in this movie were gorgeous.

In my opinion, one of the worst G suits made, but somehow, it works for this movie.

Well, that was an easy guess. Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla it is. Not one of my favorite Heisei G movies. Actually, one of the worst. I may be in the minority here, but I did like Space Godzilla the monster. Although I didn't particularly like the flying version of SG, I did like his overall design. A pretty formidable adversary for Godzilla with some cool powers. It's too bad other aspects of the movie sorely suffered.



How did they get the scale so wrong in this shot??




Toho SPFX did a good job in hiding wires in the Heisei movies, but not here.




I think i'm getting obsessed with the holes in suits shots.

This Godzilla suit had some problems. Here, you can see a piece of Godzilla's shoulder/arm get a hole blown into it...



And I didn't even know about this shot until I read about it here on MZ where Godzilla's tail rips off.

I honestly think the best part of Spacegodzilla is, collectively, about 30 seconds of really wonderfully composed composite shots of Godzilla.
