There were parts of the '74 and '75 films where Mechagodzilla bent unrealistically, but they were still a far cry better than the sloppy work Toho did in 1973. That being said, it wouldn't be until 1993 that we got to watch a Mechagodzilla that actually looked metallic, had sound effects for its joints moving, and moved the way a giant robot would. Kiryu was also pretty good, though it moved way too fast for a robot, and I hate that part where it flies into Godzilla and stops immediately.
