Considering that the (poor) kid has been already exposed to material not really suited for his age, i wonder if any of the older G movies would be interesting to him. I think Final Wars could be a start. Or go Showa all the way but skipping to the fights :)

The first Godzilla film I saw was 1985, back in 1994. I was only five years old! And whoa.. that film had the biggest impact on me ever... :D Loved it! Fell in love! IN LOVE! Then.. later that night, or the following morning I watched Godzilla vs the Smog Monster... So, maybe those. ;)
