Yup. Y'all got it. Frakenstein vs. Baragon was another kaiju movie that was regularly shown on Saturdays on Creature Double Feature when I was a kid. The physical fighting scenes between Frank and Baragon are great. Lots of good and sometimes funny images of Frankenstein and Baragon in this movie. Even though War of the Gargantuas was the direct sequel, I always wished they had brought this Frankenstein monster back in another movie. Frankenstein's facial expressions in this movie are great also.

Who is this Frankenstein imposter?? Re-shoots for the American version??

Frank needs a dental plan!

I noticed in the fight scenes with Baragon that it looks like they have the actor that's playing Frankenstein wear some sort of dirty looking ankle socks on his feet??

Shall We Dance?!

Ok. Take a look at these next four images. I never really noticed this before, but in this scene, the scene actually looks like it jumps or something like that.

1hour 16 minutes 24 seconds...

1 hour 16 minutes 25 seconds...

1 hour 16 minutes 26 seconds...

^^^You can see the wires attached to Baragon also.

More holes in the monster suit alert!

Get your finger out of my nose Frank!

Tastes like chicken... Oh wait!

I don't really see the jump you're describing in those four frames, maybe if I watched it in motion... But nevertheless, it's very likely what you're seeing is a missing frame or frames of film. This is very common in older movies. Often if a frame or two got damaged on a print they would just cut those frames out b/c it flashes by so quick that most people wont notice. And they didn't count on the invention of home video and being able to watch movies in scrutinizing detail over and over. But then, when an old movie (especially a more obscure one like this) gets transferred to home video, they often run into the problem of not having very many materials to choose from and wind up using the best prints they can find but still may have some noticeable damage, missing frames, etc.

I guarantee you, that if you watch that one scene, you'll see what I'm talking about. Images two, three, and four really shows it as evidenced from the angle of Frankenstein and Baragon. (especially Baragon)

Awesome topic idea, these screencaps really bring back some memories and remind me how badly I need to update my movie collection!

^^^It looks really funny when you slow it down. It's almost as if something went wrong with the first shot, and instead of shooting the scene over, they just spliced a second shot in with the first(?)

I think it's just a bad edit. Notice that Furuhata as Frankenstein steps out of frame in the first shot? The second angle is there to assure that both Baragon and Frankenstein are in the same frame when the shot ends.

I kinda wonder if something happened to the Baragon suit on the landing of that first shot, then just made a second shot sometime later. who knows. Next image coming soon. Looking for a real good one.

In the '30s and '40s they did cuts like that all the time in movies. I seem to recall lots of moments like that with Laurel and Hardy.
