I think a lot of people here take this fan film too seriously - worst of all though would be Huntie. Seriously as an artist, one must be ready to take criticism. You could make the best movie in the world and there's always going to be some people who will not like it, plain and simple.
Conversely, there's always people who WILL like it, even if it's a total pile of crap. So focus on your fanbase, and take constructive criticism with the aim to improve. If everyone you meet says you're a talentless hack then perhaps you need some more time to refine your skills.
As for the actual film, yeah it was ok, I agree with all the prior opnions here - great for a one man show, confusing writing, too dark, etc all. When watching it 90% of the time I couldn't even tell what the characters were even saying to each other over the voice effects, and when it was done really had no idea what it was even about.
Effects were decent, props are easily the best part of the produciton (you guys may not be impressed with the Godzilla suit but I thought it looked pretty good.) My only gripe with the effects is that there are too many in camera perspective shots, where for instance a monster head is closer to the camera to make it look bigger. Problem is the illusion just doesn't happen, and it ends up looking just like what it is - a small puppet close up to the camera. This is really evident during the spaceship chase at the begining - they look like models. Most of these shots would have come off better just using features in Aftereffects to blow up the objects or whatever to get the same effect.
Anyway, I really am impressed though with the film, despite the flaws. Huntie needs to learn how to take the good with the bad, and should be proud of his production, warts and all. Really if anyone thinks they can do better no one is stopping them from making thier own little opus.
