This past Tuesday my family and I had to take a road trip up to Ohio for my papaw's funeral. On the trip up there, I watched Space Amoeba in the car, the R1 subtitled on my portable DVD player. On the trip back, I did the same with The Mysterians R1. Watching kaiju/toku movies has a way of centering me like nothing else during rough times. I don't know if that's common among all fans or if it's just me.
Saturday I finally got around to watching the Godzilla vs. Megalon R4 that I got over a week ago. I watched it on my TV, which I always prefer over watching a movie on the computer. I love built-in subtitles on discs.
Today (or technically yesterday I guess, since it's past midnight), I for some reason got the sudden urge to watch Godzilla: Final Wars for the first time in many months, R1 subtitled on my TV. A sloppy mess and a very flawed film it may be, but I still love the hell out of it. In fact, I enjoyed watching it more today than I think I ever have before.
Afterwards I watched Clerks II, which isn't a kaiju/toku movie but is still worth mentioning because it owns.
