Is Gamera 2 more American then one thinks?

Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!

Difenately. I've always thougt GAMERA 2 was an old school american Sci-Fi with Kaiju. All the more, supernatural, fanasty elements we assiciate with Kaiju Eiga seem confined to just Gamera.

Another reason I love the trilogy so much, each film is so markedly different from even each other, Gamera 1 is sort of a fun, straight Kaiju Eiga action film, 2 was more of a Sci-Fi film, and 3 is more of a horror movie.
