Hmmm. Seeing as how you like the "goofy-ness" of the showa Gamera flicks, you may not ennjoy the Heisei Gamera movies a whole lot. They are serious-ness incarnate. Serious almost to a fault.
I think they're quite terrific, though; possibly the best kaiju films ever made. See if you can't rent 'em from somewhere.

i took the plundge that ordered the box a couple of months ago...best decision ive made all year! these movies are fantastic...specialy g3 witch is a work of art and i think it is a shame that monst americans havent had a chance to view it...its just stunning imo

Thay are as you said TTC diff. type of movie,but very well done, don't you think? that alone makes them worth watching and buying!

I was at FYE the other day and they had the Gamera trilogy boxset for only $15!!! hell of a deal there.
