Gamera vs. Monster X comin' to DVD in 2004

Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!

Gamera vs. Monster X comin' to DVD in 2004

Postby Khandejifer » Mon Aug 25, 2003 11:09 am

I emailed the guys at Retromedia, and in January 2004, Gamera vs. Monster X (the A.I.P. dub of Gamera vs. Jiger) is going to be released on DVD.

While we know the DVD isn't going to be great......that is kind of nice that it's finally getting released in the US (First time too I believe).

That´s right, I remember now - Retromedia have the rights to Monster X, Return... and War.
How do you think they will release them? Three single discs or a triple bill extravaganza?

Dude, MGM still has the RIGHTS to 'Return of the Giant Monsters.' MGM just MIGHT release it, someday, as their 'Midnight Collection,' which includes Killer Klowns From Outer Space and Reptilicus, plus others.

I emailed Retromedia again, about, Return of the Giant Monsters. And here was their reply:

We're trying to acquire good materials -- I was literally in awe of Alpha's WAR OF THE MONSTERS -- it was so blurry.

Let's see:

Gappa, The Trihipbian Monster (Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters)
Monster From a Prehistoric Planet (Alpha Video)
Monster From a Prehistoric Planet (Retromedia)
Monster From a Prehistoric Planet (Retromedia/Gamera)

So, four versions have been released on DVD.
