I think G2 is "The X-Files Meets Gamera". I don't know why exactly; I think it's the nighttime cinematography, or the pacing, or something.

Anyway, while I think it's a fine movie itself, it's probably my least fave in the trilogy, if only because most of it seems sorta like filler. It doesn't really advance the story in the way a mid-trilogy film like Star Wars Episode V does.

My favorite scene is the nod to the original Rodan, when Gamera sucks in all the air for the plasma blast that takes out the first Legion plant. There's a soldier that grabs on to a tree while being pulled in. Very funny scene.

I also love the final battles. It was one of the most intense I've ever watched.

I love Gamera 2. It feels like an all out tribute to the 1960's Toho sci-fi spectical. You have the scinetist the military and the giant monster and they all meld quite well. I love the battle at the end with the military it plays like a kaiju and war film.

I just watched this one last night. After all the positive reviews and glowing praise, I decided to invest the money and give the Heisei trilogy a shot even though I've been a lifelong Gamera abstainer and scoffer.

I loved "Attack of Legion", and it was definitely better made and directed than any Heisei or Millennium era Godzilla movie. First of all, how you can take the campy "Friend of All Children" label and use it in a modern film without being craptacular or lame is beyond me. But I find it most amazing that Kaneko has managed to take a monster that is a giant turtle with rockets on his feet and make him imposing, awe-inspiring and incredibly sympathetic. Some of those effects shots were absolutely brilliant, too.

I'm not sure why I'm so surprised at the job Kaneko did with these. His Godzilla movie is definitely a giant notch above the other Millennium-era stuff. So far I feel that the Gamera movies blow that out of the water, though, and I still have to watch Gamera 3![/b]

It's a pretty good movie, not as good as Gamera 3, but a good one. Some people consider Gamera 1 a better film, which I can see. the first film had stronger character development than the 2nd film had. Mainly Gamera 2 is good for the cool scenes and shots and the other two have more substance.
